The Provider Documentation and Coding Coach is responsible for providing expert coding and documentation education, including one-on-one instruction and coaching, to physicians, allied health practitioners, and other coding professionals. This position is responsible for taking the lead on provider coding performance excellence initiatives and working with physician and administrative leaders to achieve material results. The Provider Documentation and Coding Coach will work with Revenue Cycle and Operations Leadership to prioritize, develop, and deliver high-quality education and one-on-one coaching to help providers achieve higher accuracy in their documentation and coding. Activities may involve participation in the development of ongoing and/or remedial coding curriculum for providers and staff, delivery of educational content in small or large group settings and providing revenue opportunity and/or risk assessments for providers or physician practices.
This position reports directly to the Director of HIM.
Bachelor’s Degree in healthcare field or education-related major or equivalent experience.
Minimum of seven years of progressively responsible relevant professional CPT/ICD10 experience in a multi-specialty healthcare setting. Experience working directly with physicians, allied health practitioners, and operational leadership required. Experience with teaching or consulting preferred. Experience leading multi-departmental groups and projects preferred.
