Job Scope: Evaluate oncology patients referred for therapy services and development a treatment plan to optimize function, mitigate side effects of cancer and its treatments, and reduce/prevent the development of disabilities. 

 

 

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities for this role include helping patients regain strength and safe mobility, reducing musculoskeletal and neuromuscular pain, facilitating health and recovery of the lymphatic system, and educating patients and their families about how to optimize quality of life during and after cancer treatment. Previous Oncology experience is highly preferred.

Assesses, plans, and implements comprehensive therapy treatment programs for individual patients. Collaborates with multidisciplinary treatment team, including participation in various tumor boards.

 

Qualifications

 

Education:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy program approved by the Occupational Therapy Association.

 

Skills:

Able to render patient services and may supervise Therapy Aides and students.

Excellent organizational skills to facilitate program development.

Demonstrates competency, as appropriate to the ages of patients served, in the ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of the patient’s needs; knowledge of normal growth and development; and an understanding of the range of the treatment needed.

Skilled in-home program development and family training

Knowledge in appropriate selection and use of DME (wheelchairs, walkers, etc.)

Computer skills.

Licensure

  • Current Occupational Therapist license for Oregon.
  • CPR certification.
  • CLT preferred, LANA preferred.
