Overview

As a pharmacy intern, your compassion for others is felt in simple ways that make a huge impact: spending time to explain a medication, asking how a patient is feeling, checking with pharmacists and other health care providers to make sure patient pharmacy care is running smoothly. Your concern for patients helps to fulfill the Legacy mission of making life better for others.

The Legacy Internship Program will provide mentoring, support, and development of critical thinking skills for pharmacy interns with an interest in health-system pharmacy. Other objectives include:

o Offer opportunities for leadership, project management, and shadowing in clinical areas to help nurture
interests and strengthen knowledge.

o Enhance written and oral communication skills by providing opportunities for presentations and medication
use evaluations.

o Provide staffing experience in the inpatient setting with a focus on operations (e.g. IV admixture;
compounding; triaging medication needs for hospitalized patients; and management of automatic dispensing
cabinets on the units). Staffing expectations include every other weekend working technician shifts as well as
working over holiday and summer breaks, (TBD)

o Provide staffing experience in transitions of care, including medication history evaluations and medication
counseling depending on site need.
