This is a hybrid-remote position - incumbents, who reside in Oregon or Washington only, may work multiple partial days a week at an assigned Legacy Health location, and other days may work remotely at home, on the road or in a satellite location for the remainder of their workweek.
All new hires are required to come to a designated Legacy Health office location in Portland, Oregon prior to their start date for a new hire health assessment and to complete new hire paperwork. This position may require initial training and orientation to be site-based, before transitioning to the hybrid schedule.
Legacy’s Population Health team is looking for a dedicated and driven Medical Assistant (MA) living in Oregon or Washington State to support a virtual primary care provider for members in Legacy’s value-based contracts. This virtual clinic will focus on onboarding members and providing virtual primary care on an interim basis until the member is able to establish care at a medical home. You will be working alongside a team who is dedicated to ensuring that our members receive the care and support that they need.
A Medical Assistant is responsible for assisting with patient care, maintaining department/clinic efficiency and other duties, as assigned. This person will be the primary support person to the virtual provider and duties will include managing patient messages, authorizations, referrals, and other clinic administrative functions. Participates as a member of the health care team in cooperation with and under the direction of a provider. Participates in daily operations under the supervisor or manager.
Experience: Experience as a back office medical assistant in a clinic setting. One-year experience preferred. Keyboard skills and ability to navigate electronic systems applicable to job functions.
Education: Completion of a medical assistant program or successful completion of a formal medical services training program of the United States Armed Forces.
Certification:
Washington and Oregon:
MA certification required upon hire, from either the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), the American Medical Technologists (AMT), the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) or the National Healthcare Association (NHA). AAMA preferred.
Washington Only:
Washington State certification as a Medical Assistant-Certified or Interim Medical Assistant-Certified required, including completion of required Washington State AIDS training (including those who float into the role).
