Responsibilities

Under the direction of the department manager, the Clinical Nutrition Supervisor oversees the day-to-day operations and employee performance of the clinical operation staff throughout LH.  Primary responsibilities include assigning work to and supervising clinical dietitians and the occasional dietetic interns, developing standards and monitoring of clinical dietetic performance, reviewing and updating policies and procedures and standards of practice, implementing and maintaining cost control procedures, interacting with management and professional staff and maintaining professional competency and skills required for professional practice.  Works with staff and other managers to develop systems and procedures necessary for operations, and provides training, information and support required by staff to solve problems and to accomplish the objectives of the department.  The Clinical Nutrition Supervisor will have a majority of clinical responsibilities and a portion of their time dedicated to management responsibilities.

Qualifications

Education:
Bachelor’s degree in dietetics, food and nutrition, or related area. Completion of a didactic program in dietetics and supervised practice program approved by CADE of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Masters preferred.

 

Experience:
Minimum of five years of progressively more responsible clinical dietician work experience in a healthcare setting, with two years supervisory experience preferred.

 

Skills:
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal; strong problem-solving, decision-making and time-management skills; demonstrated knowledge of operations, including staffing, scheduling, productivity management, workflow planning and staff development; proficient in use of PC-based computer software including Microsoft Office applications. Comprehensive knowledge and application of medical nutrition therapy, including knowledge of nutrient analysis. Ability to communicate effectively to patients, staff, physicians, and management staff. Knowledge of applicable regulations, laws and accreditation standards required. Ability to prioritize and organize tasks and work independently.
