Under the direction of the Medical Director of Clinical Ethics, the Clinical Ethicist is responsible for leading the designated work of the system ethics program. The Clinical Ethicist leads and provides clinical ethics consultation services, leads and/or provides support for ethics education for staff, providers, and ethics program members across the system, leads and/or provides support for ethics policy review and formulation, and supports organizational ethics activities. The Clinical Ethicist works in collaboration with other ethics program members to promote the field of health care ethics through clinical ethics consultation, education, scholarship, and research. The Clinical Ethicist models and promotes excellence in the professional practice of clinical ethics. consultation by engaging in continuous quality improvement, peer to peer feedback, and research and professional development. The Clinical Ethicist works toward the development of exemplary learning practices, particularly in the area of clinical and organizational ethics education.
This position is actively engaged in bringing an ethical lens to larger health care issues that face society and health care institutions. In addition, the Clinical Ethicist serves as a resource across the region on matters related to health care ethics, and diversity, equity, and inclusion. Supports regional/local ethics committees and is asked to participate in the activities of various committees/councils. Contributes to system-wide projects, goals, and strategic planning initiatives.

Healthcare Ethics Consultant – Certified (HEC-C) designation from the American Society for Bioethics and Humanities (ASBH) preferred. If not currently certified, HEC-C required within 12 months.
