Operates hospital switchboard, overhead intercom paging and text/phone pagers to relay incoming, outgoing and interoffice calls. Triages emergency calls and routes them to appropriate personnel. Facilitates and coordinates communications within the hospital as well as between the hospital and the community. Announces all hospital Codes and Conditions, monitors and responds to emergency panels including fire, gas and call systems. Assists in verifying and updating patient information (mail returns) and provider database information. Manages input of physician on-call schedules in both paper and electronic systems.
Education:
High school graduate or equivalent.
Experience:
Six months customer service working in a fast paced, rapid call and/or multi-tasking environment experience required. Receptionist/Operator multi-line phone and/or software driven system required. Electronic database input and management experience preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
Previous experience in a health care environment or training program desired.
