Legacy Meridian Park Medical Center is the South Metro area’s full-service medical center, with the friendly feel of a community hospital and the skill and services of a much larger medical center. Among our specialties: stroke, chest pain, minimally invasive and robotic surgery, cancer care and orthopedic and total joint surgery. Plus, a birth center and breast health center.
HOUSEKEEPING FUNCTIONS:
Promptly responds to room turnover requests.
Assists in the turnover of the operating room for surgery, including obtaining supplies and equipment, and returning equipment and unused supplies at conclusion of the procedure.
Surface disinfection of specialty OR equipment, including robot, microscopes, etc.
Assists in obtaining and stocking equipment for subsequent cases.
Assists with transport and breakdown of case cart to decontamination as needed.
SUPPLY INVENTORY FUNCTIONS:
Checks and re-stocks the following areas to maintain adequate inventory levels: core areas, distribution cart, general department inventory, and air tanks.
GENERAL/MISCELLANEOUS FUNCTIONS:
Assists with patient transport, transfer and positioning as needed within the OR.
Performs or assists with surgical site preparation as requested, including pre-operative shave preps.
Assists room personnel with patient preparations and positioning as needed (e.g., holding limbs).
Maintains clear and uncluttered hallways.
Responds to room requests and special needs.
Transports equipment, blood, specimens, lab draws and other items to and from the OR to other hospital departments.
May transport patients and retrieve beds and stretchers as needed within the perioperative areas.
Completes assigned duties checklist and provides report to lead or relief personnel.
Demonstrates accepted aseptic practices in the performance of all job duties.
Adheres to all Legacy and departmental policies and procedures.
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience:
One year previous medical experience in an acute care setting preferred. This could include experience as a Surgical Services Aide, OR Assistant, Certified Nursing Assistant, central sterile tech, or other medical experience.
Skills:
Must have the ability to give and receive verbal and written instructions in English and perform basic computations. Medical terminology desirable.
Must be able to work well with other team members.
Must be able to perform duties independently with minimal supervision.
Must be able to quickly perform a variety of tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Must be willing and able to work alternate shifts (including weekends) and overtime to meet the demands and needs of patient care and the department.
