As a coordinator of housekeeping services, you will help to maintain this high level of service through your outstanding interpersonal and problem-solving skills and your ability to organize a variety of department activities. Responsibilities

Under the direction of the department manager, the Coordinator Environmental Services is responsible for day-to-day staff scheduling and work assignments.  The coordinator works with the RN Administrative Supervisor and RN Charge Nurses to plan Environmental Services assignments to improve patient flow. The Coordinator may attend bed meetings.  The Coordinator performs a variety of general cleaning tasks and regularly performs quality control rounds.  The Coordinator provides office support and training to Environmental Service Technicians and is a resource regarding department policies and procedures.  The Coordinator represents the Environmental Services department in hospital wide meetings such as Safety Committee.  The Coordinator acts as the person-in-charge in the absence of formal leadership.

Qualifications

EDUCATION:

  • High School Diploma, or equivalent, required.
  • Associate’s degree, or equivalent experience, preferred.
  • Certified Hospital Environmental Service Technician certification preferred.

 

EXPERIENCE:

  • Two years of hospital experience preferred (shipping/receiving, materials, housekeeping/environmental services or related experience).

 

SKILLS:

  • Ability to handle the physical and mental demands of a dynamic environment.
  • Ability to read, write and understand English and perform math calculations.
  • Knowledge of computers and appropriate software programs required.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Good interpersonal relations skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work with others in a diplomatic and tactful manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to remain calm and collected in stressful situations.
  • Comprehends and utilizes good body mechanics.
  • Ability to work in a self-directed manner.

Working Conditions

Risk of exposure to blood and body fluids . Must be able to lift push pull 20 40 pounds. Risk of exposure to hazardous airborne pathogens particles Annual N95 HMR Full Face fit testing and E required .
