• Under the direction of the department manager, the Coordinator Environmental Services is responsible for day-to-day staff scheduling and work assignments. 
• The coordinator works with the RN Administrative Supervisor and RN Charge Nurses to plan Environmental Services assignments to improve patient flow.
• The Coordinator may attend bed meetings. 
• The Coordinator performs a variety of general cleaning tasks and regularly performs quality control rounds. 
• The Coordinator provides office support and training to Environmental Service Technicians and is a resource regarding department policies and procedures. 
• The Coordinator represents the Environmental Services department in hospital wide meetings such as Safety Committee. 
• The Coordinator acts as the person-in-charge in the absence of formal leadership.

EDUCATION:

• High School Diploma, or equivalent, required.
• Associate’s degree, or equivalent experience, preferred.
• Certified Hospital Environmental Service Technician certification preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

• Two years of hospital experience preferred (shipping/receiving, materials, housekeeping/environmental services or related experience).

SKILLS:

• Ability to handle the physical and mental demands of a dynamic environment.
• Ability to read, write and understand English and perform math calculations.
• Knowledge of computers and appropriate software programs required.
• Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks.
• Good interpersonal relations skills.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work with others in a diplomatic and tactful manner.
• Demonstrated ability to remain calm and collected in stressful situations.
• Comprehends and utilizes good body mechanics.
• Ability to work in a self-directed manner.
