Responsibilities

The Infection Prevention Program Manager holds a critical position in our healthcare organization and is responsible for directing and overseeing the infection prevention quality program with a designated facility(ies). Reporting to the Director of Infection Prevention and Control, this role is dedicated to safeguarding the health and safety of staff, patients, and the environment of care by meticulously managing infection prevention and control initiatives. The Infection Prevention Program Manager plays a pivotal role in ensuring compliance with rigorous infection prevention standards and practices, thereby reducing the risk of healthcare-associated infections, and promoting a safe healthcare environment.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor, investigate, and report healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) in accordance with local, state, and federal requirements.
  • Analyze infection data to identify trends, clusters, or outbreaks and recommend appropriate interventions.
  • Collaborate with clinical and support departments to develop, implement, and monitor infection prevention and control practices.
  • Educate staff, patients, and visitors on infection prevention protocols and best practices.
  • Participate in performance improvement and patient safety initiatives related to infection control utilizing current guidelines, evidence-based practice, and regulatory standards (e.g., CDC, CMS, OSHA, Joint Commission).
  • Conduct risk assessments related to infection prevention, including construction and renovation projects.
  • Ensure proper use and monitoring of personal protective equipment (PPE), isolation precautions, and hand hygiene compliance.
  • Collaborate with Employee Health to support occupational health programs, including exposure management and immunization tracking.
  • Prepare for and participate in regulatory and accreditation surveys related to infection prevention.
  • Serve as a resource and consultant on infection prevention to leadership, clinical teams, and support services.
  • Stay current with emerging infectious diseases, technologies, and regulatory changes affecting infection control practices.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Master's degree in a relevant field (preferred).
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Epidemiology, Public Health, or a related field (required).

 

Experience:

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in infection prevention or a related field.
  • Experience in clinical healthcare role (preferred).
  • Clinical nursing experience (preferred).
  • Experience in program management within a healthcare setting (preferred).

 

Skills:

  • Thorough understanding of infection prevention principles and practices.
  • Strong leadership and managerial skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Proficient in relevant software and data analysis tools.

Licensure

Licensure/Certification: 

  • Certification in Infection Prevention (CIC) or equivalent within a year of 12 months of eligibility.

Pay Range

USD $48.91 - USD $72.88 /Hr.
