A Post-Doctoral Research Fellow is an MD or Ph.D. in a scientific discipline. Post-Doctoral Research Fellows may provide clinical and/or scientific services, according to their level of responsibility, under the supervision of the Principal Investigator with the common goal of accelerating the development of new technologies and treatments in assigned area.
Drs. Barbara Sorg and Soren Impey are seeking an early career doctoral-level trainee with a background in neuroscience or related discipline to contribute to basic science studies of memory and cocaine use disorder. Strong candidates will have research expertise with rodent behavior, basic molecular biology, use of viral vectors, and stereotaxic surgery. Candidates with background in functional genomics and biostatistical/bioinformatic approaches (e.g. python or R) preferred.
The postdoctoral associate will be responsible for managing the day-to-day activities, including planning and directing experiments, data analysis, publication of research findings, and presentation at conferences. The project is focused on perineuronal nets and is part of a collaborative team located at nearby Oregon Health & Science University, and at Washington State University and Ohio State University.
Legacy Research Institute (LRI) is a member organization of Legacy Health, a seven-county Portland-Vancouver metropolitan area, community-governed organization. LRI is housed in a dedicated 65,000 sq. ft. research building where a wide range of research is conducted including: bench research with in vitro and in vivo studies; population-based studies; clinical trials; and translational studies in a variety of areas, such as: basic and clinical neuroscience, substance use disorders, traumatic brain injury, vision (particularly glaucoma), pediatric critical care, surgical outcomes See https://www.legacyhealth.org/For-Health-Professionals/legacy-research-institute for more information.
Education: MD or Ph.D. in a scientific discipline. At a minimum the individual must have documentation they have completed all of the course work, research, and thesis preparation and acceptance necessary to receive their degree. This recognizes that granting institutions (universities) only present degrees on a periodic schedule.
