The Oregon Burn Center Aftercare Coordinator provides project coordination and support in planning and implementing a wide range of social and educational activities to help reintegrate OBC patients into the community. This role collaborates with a multidisciplinary team and community organizations to achieve that goal.

Legacy Emanuel Medical Center in North Portland is a local and regional leader in serious clinical illness and injury. It is one of only two Level 1 trauma centers in Oregon and home to the only burn center between Seattle and Sacramento. The hospital is also home to the Life Flight Network, the first of its kind instituted on the West Coast. As a 554-bed facility, Legacy Emanuel provides a full range of services, including around-the-clock expertise for critical health issues, experts in trauma, heart care, burns, significant wounds, stroke, brain surgery and more.
Inpatient/Outpatient Services
Connect burn survivors with compatible peer support volunteers.
Plan, implement, and assess bi-monthly Burn Support Group meetings, co-facilitated with staff or volunteers.
Personally invite patients, families, and supportive friends to Burn Support Group meetings through phone calls or other outreach.
Coordinate school re-entry support based on patient needs.
Oversee all aspects of social and educational activities, including:
Communication with community partners, vendors, and participants.
Invitations, registration, and participant applications.
Volunteer coordination (staff, chaperones, community partners, etc.).
Onsite event logistics: venue, food, setup, cleanup, and problem resolution.
Program planning including entertainment and activity coordination.
Travel arrangements for participants, as needed.
Volunteer Program Management
Identify, train, and supervise volunteers, with a focus on mentoring.
Schedule and facilitate periodic check-ins with volunteers.
Community Engagement & Program Development
Establish and maintain relationships with reputable community-based nonprofit organizations for collaborative events, camps, and ongoing program development.
Serve as liaison between the Oregon Burn Center and external organizations and vendors.
Database & Record Management
Maintain an up-to-date database of burn survivor contact information.
Keep the SOAR binder current with patient and volunteer information.
Grant and Fundraising Support
Assist in writing and submitting grants related to aftercare programming.
Coordinate budgeting and track use of grant funds.
Support fundraising activities to sustain and grow aftercare services.
SOAR Program Coordination
Lead SOAR volunteer trainings and ongoing development.
Maintain current bio books and training materials for the SOAR program.
