Responsibilities

The Senior Major Gifts Officer serves as a key development team member and active participant in reaching established goals and objectives of their assigned foundation or programs through physician engagement, board/volunteer and donor management. Responsibilities include managing an annual portfolio of prospects capable of making principal ($250,000+) and major gifts ($25,000+), prospect identification, cultivation and stewardship.

 

Works with Legacy leaders, trustees and physicians on gift approach strategies. Prepares contact reports and appropriate follow-up materials in consultation with communications department and prepares proposals for prospects regarding appropriate gift instruments. Works closely with philanthropy leadership to build a Foundation board and other fundraising councils, as appropriate, of prominent community leaders and philanthropists.

Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required, preferably in business, communications or liberal arts.

 

Experience:

Minimum of eight years of experience in major gift fundraising, preferably in health care, academic medicine or higher education.  Extensive experience in sales (8+ years) may be substituted for fundraising experience.

 

Skills:

Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.

Commitment to healthcare.

Ability to work independently and with limited supervision.

Ability to work as an effective member of a team.

Creative and analytical skills.

Financial planning skills.

Strong organizational skills.

Proficiency with database utilization and modern office software

Licensure

Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) preferred.

Pay Range

USD $53.93 - USD $80.36 /Hr.
