The Medical Assistant II – Clinics is responsible for assisting with patient care, maintaining department/clinic efficiency and other duties, as assigned. Participates as a member of the health care team in cooperation with and under the direction of a physician. Participates in daily operations under the supervisor or manager.

GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Prepares patients and rooms for exams and procedures.
Performs basic laboratory testing and phlebotomy.
Administers medications as directed by provider (as per site operations).
Assists provider with exams and procedures.
Documents medical information in the patient records.
Routes test results to physician(s) for review, and files results in medical records (as per site operations).
Communicates test results with patients when deemed appropriate by provider.
Facilitates patient care activities, to include scheduling ancillary tests, patient education, and performs triage as appropriate and directed by provider (as per site operations).
Maintains adequate inventory of medical, x-ray, and pharmaceutical supplies.
Performs x-ray services.
Demonstrates and maintains appropriate behavior in accordance with established standard.
Exercises appropriate telephone use to meet the needs of external and internal customers.
Performs basic computer skills in using electronic health record proficiently while conducting daily documentation and communications involved in patient care.
Processes verbal and written orders appropriately and accurately.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Education: Completion of a medical assistant program or successful completion of a formal medical services training program of the United States Armed Forces.
Graduate of an x-ray training program.
Experience: Experience as a back office medical assistant. One-year experience, including limited x-ray procedure, preferred.
Skills:
EKG skills and x-ray skills.
Phlebotomy, basic lab skills.
Medication administration to include oral, topical and injections.
Ability to work well with minimal supervision and make sound assessments and judgments within scope of practice.
Clinical procedures within scope of practice for medical assistant.
Administrative procedures within scope for practice for medical assistant.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Service-oriented with ability to adapt to changing workload and pace.
Ability to maintain good film quality.
Ability to maintain favorable patient and guest relations.
Accuracy.
Keyboard skills and ability to navigate electronic systems applicable to job functions.
Washington and Oregon:
Current American Heart Association approved CPR certification required.
MA certification required upon hire, or within one year of hire, from either the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), the American Medical Technologists (AMT), the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) or the National Healthcare Association (NHA). AAMA preferred. Certification may be required upon hire, depending on the needs of the department.
Oregon Only:
Limited X-Ray Machine Operator (LXMO) license required. May include upper/lower extremities, chest/ribs, and spine as per site operations.
Washington Only:
Washington State certification as a Medical Assistant-Certified or Interim Medical Assistant-Certified required, including completion of required Washington State AIDS training (including those who float into the role).
Washington State registration as X-Ray Technician – Limited Scope required.
