Overview

The Vice President, Chief Quality Officer (CQO), leads a system-wide commitment to excellence, ensuring every member of Legacy Health is dedicated to the safety and well-being of our patients and the broader community. Reporting to the SVP, System Chief Medical Officer, you will lead the Quality and Patient Safety division for our diverse multidisciplinary nonprofit that spans six-hospitals, a full-service children’s hospital, a 24-hour mental and behavioral health services center, and a network of care clinics.

 

In this role, you will foster trust and navigate our complex environment to achieve strong clinical outcomes. By setting clear and implementable goals, you will inspire the organization to achieve top-decile performance in national quality measures. Your expertise will be vital in assessing Legacy’s risk and advising the organization on changes necessary to reduce or mitigate.

 

Location Requirement: This key leadership position performs work while physically located in Oregon or Washington, with a primary presence in the Portland Metro and Southwest Washington areas.

Qualifications

Experience: 

  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in quality, safety, and patient experience.
  • Knowledge in continuous improvement methodology, experience in assessing risk issues, and proven experience working with the Joint Commission, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid and other regulatory bodies.
  • Experience in cultivating external partnerships to define and measure quality health care and linking it to the improvement of clinical outcomes.

Education:

  • D., D.O., MSN/MN and/or Doctoral degree in nursing, MPH, or other relevant graduate education.

Skills:

  • An inspiring forward thinker who can lead us to the next level of linking our culture of quality and safety to the transformation of patient care.
  • Demonstrated expertise in clinical quality, patient safety and process improvement.
  • Systems thinker with a firm understanding of process improvement methodologies, as well as change management principles.
  • Proven results using a continual quality improvement framework to improve patient outcomes and drive value across the continuum of care.
  • Demonstrates high integrity, confidence, and effectiveness as a leader with all levels of the organization, including the CEO and the Senior Executive team, hospital and clinic administrators, board committees, and multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Ability to collaborate with others and provide constructive feedback to solve operational problems, and lead process improvement efforts to achieve operational efficiency.
  • Ability to assimilate quality and patient safety trends and use them to direct future strategy.
  • Excellent verbal and written communicator who can cultivate collaborative relationships with physicians, multidisciplinary teams, site and executive leadership, nursing groups, and appropriate Legacy committees.
  • Proven ability to interact with people in a meaningful way and to gain the confidence and trust of stakeholders at all levels in the system, healthcare industry, and community.
  • Strong commitment to participatory leadership to lead, inspire and develop a high performing and critical team.

Licensure

Licensure:

  • For physicians or nurse leaders, eligibility for licensure for Oregon and/or Washington must be acquired within 6 months of start date.

Pay Range

USD $140.39 - USD $203.57 /Hr.
