The VP, Payor Strategy & Contracting is responsible for all aspects of payor contracting for Legacy Health. This includes but is not limited to, development of contract strategy, negotiation, analysis and administration of all fee-for-service and risk/incentive-based payor contracts. This responsibility includes all hospitals, the employed physician division, joint ventures, Legacy Health Partners, and any other operating divisions of Legacy Health. The position also serves as the Legacy representative in all contracting discussions with the PacificSource/Legacy relationship. The VP, Payor Strategy & Contracting is responsible for the financially viable and timely negotiation and execution of all payor contracts for all lines of business, including but not limited to Commercial, Medicare Advantage and Medicaid. The individual has the authority to bind Legacy Health to the terms of all contracts negotiated. Certain strategic contracts may require the approval and signature of the Chief Financial Officer.
The Vice President leads the organization in innovation of payor contracts that advances Legacy in its efforts to move toward more value-based reimbursement while ensuring the financial integrity of the contracts and not placing the organization at undo risk.
The Vice President maintains key relationships with the VP of Care Transformation and leadership within Legacy Health Partners and PacificSource. The Vice President represents Legacy in all payor relationships.
Education: Master’s degree in Health Care Management, Public Health or Business Administration required. Relevant experience may be substituted for educational requirements.
Experience: Ten years’ experience in payor contracting for either a payor or delivery system required. Experience in value-based contracting required. Negotiation experience required. Minimum of seven years’ experience in a leadership position.
Skills: Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Outstanding negotiation skills. Ability to work with people at all levels of the organization. Ability to maintain professionalism in difficult and sensitive conversations where stakeholders may disagree. Excellent strategic thinking skills. Outstanding organizational and analytical skills. Knowledge and understanding of financial implications of various contracting structures. Demonstrated knowledge of managed care and value-based care principles. Knowledge and experience with risk-based contracting structures and of contract language. Knowledge of different healthcare rate structures and payment methodologies.
